Community Garden Project in Mari a CLASSY Award Finalist

RAIN has been announced as a Finalist for the Eastern Region in Hunger and Poverty Relief for the 4th Annual CLASSY Awards, given each year for excellence in philanthropy from Stay Classy.org. The featured project is our work with the Niger village of Mari, investing in sustainable agriculture with a co-operative garden and empowering women with the means to achieve greater food security. As part of this program, food was provided to 233 schoolchildren, crops sold supported the school, and 99 women are planting crops that will yield 3-5 tons of food.

Started in 2009, the CLASSY Awards are the largest philanthropic awards ceremony in the country, celebrating the greatest charitable achievements by nonprofit organizations, socially conscious businesses, and individuals worldwide.

On September 22 in San Diego, nearly 3,000 nonprofit leaders will gather for the 4th Annual Awards Ceremony where the 16 National CLASSY Awards Winners will be announced live.
