Future Screenings of African Apocalypse To Be Announced!

Missed our screening and panel discussion in Concord? We hope to bring this screening to the Seacoast and Hanover areas in 2022 – stay tuned!

We were thrilled to host three local community leaders at the Red River Theatres screening and discussion:

Moderator: James McKim and panelists: Malika Kounkourou and Ali Sekou.

They discussed racial equity, the ongoing impacts of colonialism, and how these dynamics pertain to us, here in NH.

 

 

 

 

Moderator: James McKim
President of the Manchester NAACP, Chair of the Episcopal Church’s National Executive Council Committee on Anti-Racism, and Chair of the NHPBS Finance Committee.

Panelist: Malika Kounkourou
Daughter of Nigerien immigrants, pursuing a degree in International Relations at Boston University. Malika is also a Liaison Officer for the Ihsan Foundation and FIPSO Niger.

Panelist: Ali Sekou
Nigerien native and board member for the Islamic Society of Greater Concord and the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success. Received the Union Leader’s 40 Under Forty Award and is in Leadership NH class of ’21.

For a documentary film screening and panel discussion about racial equity, the ongoing impacts of colonialism, and how these dynamics pertain to us, here in NH.

African Apocalypse traces the path the French took in colonizing Niger and explores the enduring effects throughout the region.

Following the screening, RAIN will host a panel discussion with local community leaders including moderator James McKim and panelists Malika Kounkourou and Ali Sekou.

International Women’s Day:

A Global Look at Gender & Justice

We have two opportunities to celebrate International Women’s Day with RAIN!

Join us for a conversation about how organizations in New Hampshire elevate and raise the voices of women and girls internationally with our own Katherine Kolios, RAIN Executive Director; Blair Demers and Mary Kiguru, EFAC; Elsy Cipriani, New Generation, Inc; and Carolyn Musyimi-Kamau, ORIS.

This virtual event is hosted by NH Women’s Foundation and it is the launch event for the Gender Justice Cafe, a series of statewide conversations around important topics that impact equity for women and girls in New Hampshire and beyond.

Women Changing the World

A Panel Discussion with New Hampshire Women Leaders

March 8th is International Women’s Day! Join the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire for their virtual celebration with a panel featuring three international non-profit leaders that call New Hampshire home. Tune in with Dr. Catherine Rielly of Rubia Handwork, Katherine Kolios of Rain for the Sahel and Sahara, and Blair Demers of Education for All Children as they talk about the meaningful work that their organizations do, and discuss their experiences as women leading non-profits in New Hampshire.

Following the opening remarks of the speakers, a moderated Question and Answer session will be held. All questions can be emailed to council@wacnh.org, posted in either of the YouTube or Facebook Live chats, or the messenger app on their website.
